The digital age has heralded a new era for consumerism, replete with influencers and social media. Platforms like Instagram are virtual marketplaces, where products and services battle for attention amidst a barrage of eye-catching content. For the uninitiated, Instagram can be a treasure trove of beauty products touted as the next innovation in hair care. But beneath the ultra-glossy surface lies a reality that savvy consumers should be wary of – the questionable efficacy of many Instagram hair products. The Influence of 'Hairfluencers' Instagram is absolutely bloody FULL of 'hairfluencers' – individuals who have a significant following due to their luscious locks and persuasive product promotions. They rave about the miraculous benefits of various hair serums, oils, and masks, crafting a rubbish story that purchasing these items is the key to unlocking the hair of your dreams. Influencers are, without a shadow of a doubt, skilled at their craft. They package their content to appear genuine and relatable, concealing their primary objective – to sell. Most influencers are compensated for their endorsements, often obscuring the line between authentic recommendation and paid promotion. The enticement of overnight transformations draws consumers in; however, the reality is far from the Instagram narrative. I implore beauty enthusiasts to consider the motives behind these influencers' posts. Is their priority your hair health, or the cash heading straight to their pockets? The Rise of Misleading Marketing Rules and regulations for online advertising (including Instagram) are less extensive than those for traditional media. This legal vacuum allows for "taking the piss" and exaggerated or unsubstantiated claims about the benefits of products. Influencers can peddle the most fantastical affirmations – 'gain centimetres of length in a month' or 'achieve salon-blonde hair at home with this spray' – without the rigorous scrutiny that traditional advertisers are subject to. The insidious nature of misleading marketing on Instagram means that consumers are vulnerable to purchasing ineffective or even harmfully potent products. The beauty of the influencer lies in their ability to maintain an illusion of authority, which can often be quite convincing. Nonetheless, it's imperative to engage in critical thinking and question the narrative being sold. The perceived exclusivity and prompt availability of these products on Instagram also contributes to making a purchase seem more compelling. However, one should remember that scarcity tactics are a tried and tested method for inciting a sense of urgency, possibly leading to impulsive and regrettable purchases. The Multi-Level Marketing Machine In recent years, Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) schemes have surged in popularity on social platforms, often masquerading as legitimate businesses. The allure of MLM's lies in their promise of financial independence and a flexible work-life balance. You may have noticed the increasing promotion of merchandise from brands utilizing these direct-selling tactics. The danger of MLMs is not just financial; it's insidious influence extends to the products themselves. Representatives entice others by selling the dream – extravagant earnings and an enviable lifestyle – often showcasing the lifestyle they allegedly achieved through the sale of the very products they are trying to recruit others to sell. Essentially, MLMs are structured to exploit individuals' networks and, in some cases, their naivety. The focus is primarily on recruitment, rather than on the quality or necessity of the products. When it comes to hair care, it's your actual hair care professional who should be advising you - not someone in your DMs. The Professional Paradigm For consumers, the professional ways the products are promoted and the frequency of 'instahair' promo's can be challenging to digest. However, against the backdrop of constant marketing ploys and virtual peer pressure, turning to experts – your salon's hair and beauty professionals – may be a much wiser approach. Your salon is staffed with individuals who have dedicated their careers to understanding and perfecting the art of hair care. Their recommendations are based on years of experience, product knowledge, and, most importantly, your specific hair type, texture, and needs. Unlike Instagram influencers, these professionals are dedicated to their reputation and are genuinely invested in the long-term health of your hair. When you make the choice to purchase Instagram hair care products, you may be jeopardizing the results you wish to achieve and the health of your hair. It's essential to consult your salon professional to create a hair care regimen tailored to you, minus the gimmicks and false promises that litter your social media feed. Securing Your Hair Health
Your hair is a huge part of your identity, and it deserves the best possible care. The seduction of Instagram's offerings can be alluring, but it's crucial to remember that not everything that glitters is gold. Prioritize the wisdom of professionals over the 'advice' of influencers who may be driven by ulterior motives. Consumers are empowered when they are informed. By being skeptiacl and cautious, you can safeguard both the quality of your hair care and your financial well-being. Stick with what's proven, personalized, and professional – and steer clear of the fictional narratives spun on social media. Your hair will thank you for it. In conclusion, your hair products should come from a source that's not only reliable but genuinely committed to your hair's health and your well-being. And that's not an influencer, an MLM seller, or the Instagram ad algorithm – it's your expert haircare professional. Safe shopping!

It can be intimidating, especially when you don’t know where to start. Well, fear not! We have some tips on how to find the perfect stylist and salon for you. Keep reading to learn more! The first step in finding the perfect stylist and salon is to stalk their social media. Take a look at their Instagram page, Facebook page or any other socials they have —you name it! - Do they do work that you like? - Is their taste similar to yours? - If you have short hair, are they showcasing a mix of long and short hairstyles? - Also ask yourself if it’s a professional salon—do they educate regularly on hair trends and styles? You want your stylist or salon to stay up-to-date on the latest tools and products in order for them to give you the best service possible. Next, take a look at their Google reviews. While there may be one or two bad reviews, take note of how these were handled by the owner. Did they respond professionally and courteously? This is an important indicator as to how your experience might go should any issues arise during your visit. Lastly, make sure that the premises are clean; no one wants service from an unclean environment! With these tips in mind, we hope that your search for the perfect stylist or salon will be successful! Remember that good research is key; take time to look through their social media presence and Google reviews before making your decision. And pssst.... You can start by stalking us! 2/6/2020 How to make friends with grey hair.Greys.
They can be a woman’s worst enemy... But do they have to be? ❓ ❓ ❓ ❓ ❓ ❓ ❓ ❓ ❓ ❓ ❓ ❓ Why do we fear them so passionately? Why are they deemed so evil and why must we fight to eliminate them completely..? 😈 🧨 ⚔️ I mean the stressssss!!!!! You try to cover them but they’re going to come back. And they’ll bring their pals! You’re pushing shit uphill! 😐 Sorry but it’s true. 🤷🏼♀️ It’s a battle you’re never going to win! If you’ve read this far, sometime soon you’re going to get to a point in that war when you either need to come in every 3 weeks to get sufficient, continual coverage OR you can hear us out. Like it or not! You need to embrace these little bastards because they are not going away. And, you trying to cover them is you, living in a world of fantasy and total denial. That time may be not too far off for you... or you may be there now. What’s the answer❓❓❓ Well. You should EMBRACE THEM! Work with them. Learn to co exist side by side. Grey hair CAN be worked with. We like to spend the time blending it in by doing teeny, tiny, micro foils which work by bridging the gap between the grey and your original natural hair. After all... your hair IS trying to go lighter. Why not take the control back and take it there by choice. Beat it! 👊🏼 The “before” regrowth in this picture is 12 weeks old. You might call it an ISO regrowth. Lucky we had started this process before isolation began as the pain was so much less during lockdown for this client than A LOT of you out there! A lot of you have recently come walking back in, hanging that massive regrowth in shame shouting “THANK god I’ve been working from home!!!” Putting a tint, on the scalp, to the roots to cover the grey means that as the new growth comes through, there is a solid line from the artificial colour, which is unnatural. It alerts everyone that you are hiding grey hair, which is actually worse than those pain in the arse greys in the first place. The process for the change from a solid tint to foils, can take anything from 2 visits to 6 visits. But in the long run, the benefits far outweigh the time frame. For one, you are no longer shoving shit uphill! Your regrowth will blend better meaning that it’s fewer visits to the salon (saving money) and more time looking like a hottie! 💁🏼♀️ If the world decides to end again due to covid, you only have to stress about your nails looking like shit and having hairy legs! 💅🏻 Your hair will be on point! 👌🏼 Now be prepared. We may choose to start this conversation before you are ready to and that’s ok. We are just planting a seed for future conversations. Don’t stab us! Because at some point, we will push it because we don’t believe in covering greys forever. So please trust our very well meaning and extremely experienced opinion. We only want you looking your best. ✌🏼 13/2/2020 What the hell is KUPA?
I have NEVER had my hair feeling this good. I am loving myself sick! I have always felt my hair was dry and in bad condition. KUPA makes my hair feel 100% perfect INSTANTLY! I rave to my friends about it and they are all converted. I actually give it to friends as gifts and I am now the friend everyone loves! Who doesn't want hair that is tangle free, moisturised, healthy looking and shiny. My hair is no longer breaking and split ends are a thing of the past. Clients mainly come in asking for foils or balayage and they always have a sexy goal picture in their hand. Quite often, what you think you want or need is not the answer. Firstly, the first thing we like to explain is that Foils and balayage are both techniques, not results. Balayage means shading or blending and more often in the hair industry, this can mean what we call "free hand painting." Foiling is a technique that we use by taking sections in the hair and weaving pieces out (or not) and applying colour and then wrapping in foil. But, confusingly enough, the same can be done with applications of balayage too. This is why, at The Cutting Room, we go off your goal pictures that you show us, more than the words you use. New clients can be "triggered" by certain names of techniques as they have suffered a terrible experience at the hands of an inexperienced hairdresser. This is when consultations are important. You may have booked in for a full head of foils, thinking this is what you want and need but quite often, once we get into the nitty gritty of you, your hair habits, lifestyle and goals, what you need may be something altogether different. Or it could be a mix of both. The best idea is don't get too caught up in the names of things and allow your stylist to ask the questions that are necessary to work out what you need. We will always book packages based on these names as people just like you find it easier to understand when booking online or over the phone. It's ok. We will get you to your goals, regardless of how we get there. We get between 10 and 15 people a week asking for quotes to go grey/silver or pastel colours like lavender. We do a lot of this kind of thing and have a great reputation doing it well. I do however spend a lot of time answering questions, quoting and replying to messages so I just thought a post like this may help you if you are thinking about having this service done. Firstly, going these types of colours is not cheap and despite what you may think, the length of your hair has little to no impact on the price. It's the time that it takes. * Also please note, these types of colours can not be done on hair that is in poor condition. The first step is to get you as close to white as possible. We use #olaplex and #cureplex so the condition of your hair is nurtured but this process is the longest part. Depending on how dark your hair is, how much colour build up you have and how good or bad the condition of your hair is, you may need to do this part in up to 3 visits. This process (including Olaplex) (http://www.thecuttingroom.net.au/whats-olaplex.html) is around $200 per application and can take 1 - 2 hours per application. Remember you may need 3 of these. Once your hair is as pale as possible, we rinse then dry off the hair. Then we need to tone/gloss you to eliminate any yellow in the hair. This step of the process can cost between $40 and $110 depending on the amount of colour required and the amount of processing time. Once this step is complete, we need to rinse and totally dry off your hair. The next step is adding the pastel purple/silver/grey. We have around 5 different brands to achieve these colours and the correct one for you will be selected during your visit. This step will take about an hour including mixing, application and processing and will cost between $42 and $100 depending on the colour brand and how much we need. Then we need to apply the step 2 of your Olaplex/Cureplex treatment which can take another 30 minutes. Add a cut and a blowdry (we do not do these types of services WITHOUT a cut and blowdry as we need to thoroughly check the condition and the colour results), and that's another 45 minutes. So there you have it! In total, you will be looking at around 4 - 8 hours work, rounding off at about $125 per hour including Olaplex take home hair rebuilder, which includes 6 - 12 treatments. Also, the maintenance needs to be discussed. Just because you've now had this done, does not mean it stays looking like this! And to keep it looking amazing, you have to keep on top of it. These pastels/silvers fade and fast. I shampoo everyday (I wear a lot of product in my hair and I'm very oily) with professional products and do all the right treatments etc and I need my pastel purple or silver topped up every 3 weeks. This will cost between $42 and $100 depending on how much product is used. Then, if you have had an on scalp bleach, you will need your regrowth done.
So we'll need to relighted it, $60 - $80, tone/gloss it to remove yellow, $42 - $60, then add the purple/silver $42 - $100. Add a trim and a blow dry and you are looking at between $200 and $300. We do between 2 and 5 of these per week and the results are SPECTACULAR! I guess I just really wanted to explain the steps, the pricing and most importantly, the maintenance. I have been wearing these colours myself for nearly 18 months and have been completing services like this in a professional salon environment for 23 years. I am a colour technician as is Lee. We UNDERSTAND hair and we KNOW colour. We wanted you to understand the level of work and commitment that goes into these colours. It is not a one step process and it is not cheap. However, some people can spend $400 - $800 on a weekend away or even a night out! So spending this type of money on a service that will make you feel fashionable, sexy and the envy of your friends for weeks, has far more value, than spending that kind of money on a night out or a weekend away. You get much more bang for your buck. 😉 2/2/2014 You do what???We thought we'd tell you exactly what else we do at The Cutting Room, and I don't mean extra services. It's the behind the scenes stuff that we think is pretty cool. You see, it started nearly 2 years ago when we were sourcing a new colour range to use in our salons. Every colour range we tried was a real disappointment. Either it just wasn't good or there was no creative freedom ie that it was 1 step up from a box colour!!! NO THANKS! We love mixing cocktails for our clients and creating colours that are tailored for you. There just wasn't anything so we started creating! Wind forward 18 months and we are now using a range of hair colours that we have created with some of the best people in the world! Isn't that crazy???? Even better, so are 4 other salons around Australia! We have also started developing a Home Care line. It started with a treatment (the "green" one) which people raved about so much that we found ourselves selling and posting them all over the country to clients friends and family! Then we created our Argan line which is a delicious Gluten Free, Sulfate Free shampoo, conditioner, hair masque and oil that has blown our clients away! So much so that we get testimonials weekly, without encouragement! Now we have created something so spectacular, that there is nothing like it in the world! It's called Coloured Bleach. For those that love a flash of pink or purple in the hair, you know how many steps there are involved in the process and that those lovely vibrant colours fade so quickly! Coloured Bleach is a 1 step process and it's basically permanent! Well, the hair industry are going crazy for it! We can't keep enough of it in supply! We started with 30 tubs. SOLD OUT! Then 170 tubs! SOLD OUT! Then 300 tubs! SOLD OUT! And I'm talking in days! So now we have 5000 tubs on their way and we are going to be at Hair EXPO 2014 in Sydney! It is the biggest thing for the hairdressing industry in Australia! We will be having an official launch there and it will be mental!!!! It's crazy how far we've come and the waves we are creating. And to think..... It all started in a little salon called The Cutting Room @ Riverstone.... |
