The Ultimate Guide to Nanoplasty Hair Treatment in Sydney

If you’re tired of frizz, spending hours straightening your hair, or searching for a treatment that actually nourishes while it smooths, you’ve found it. Nanoplasty is the most advanced hair smoothing treatment available, and at The Cutting Room in Riverstone, it’s one of our most-loved services.

Unlike traditional keratin treatments or Brazilian blowouts, nanoplasty uses cutting-edge nanotechnology and amino acids to work from within the hair shaft not just coating the surface. The result is hair that’s genuinely healthier, smoother, and more manageable for up to 9 months.

On this page you’ll find everything you need to know: what nanoplasty is, how it compares to other treatments, who it’s right for, what the process looks like, pricing, aftercare, and answers to the most common questions we get asked.

What is Nanoplasty?

Nanoplasty is an advanced hair smoothing treatment that uses nanoparticles of amino acids, proteins, and natural extracts to penetrate deep into the hair cortex. Rather than coating hair with a film (as keratin treatments do), nanoplasty repairs the hair structure from the inside out, rebuilding damaged bonds, sealing the cuticle, and restoring your hair’s natural proteins.

The treatment is 100% formaldehyde-free, vegan-friendly, and safe for all hair types including colour-treated, bleached, and chemically processed hair. It’s also one of the only smoothing treatments considered safe for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

The effects last 6–9 months, making it a genuinely low-maintenance solution for women who want beautiful hair without the daily effort.

Please note: All services are available to clients aged 16 and over only.

Why Nanoplasty Wins for Most Women

The key reason our clients choose nanoplasty over keratin is simple: it actually improves the health of your hair while smoothing it. Most smoothing treatments work by coating the hair cuticle, they make hair look smooth but don’t address the underlying damage. Nanoplasty penetrates the cortex, rebuilding the protein structure from within.

For women with colour-treated, highlighted, or bleached hair, this is especially important. Keratin and Brazilian blowout treatments can cause colour to fade significantly. Nanoplasty is colour-safe and can actually help colour last longer by sealing the cuticle.

And for anyone pregnant or breastfeeding, nanoplasty is the only major smoothing treatment recommended as safe. The formaldehyde found in many keratin treatments is a known concern during pregnancy, while nanoplasty uses only natural, amino acid-based ingredients.

Is Nanoplasty Right for Your Hair Type?

Nanoplasty works beautifully on virtually every hair type, but the results look a little different depending on your natural texture:

Curly & Coily Hair

Nanoplasty significantly reduces curl, giving you smooth, manageable hair with a soft wave or straightened finish depending on how it’s applied. It won’t eliminate your natural curl pattern permanently, when the treatment grows out, your natural texture returns gradually. Perfect for women who want the option of both smooth and curly hair throughout the life of the treatment.

Wavy & Frizzy Hair

For wavy or frizzy hair types, nanoplasty is transformative. Expect dramatically reduced frizz, defined and smooth texture, and hair that air-dries beautifully without the usual battle. Most clients with wavy hair find they barely need to style at all after the treatment.

Thick & Coarse Hair

Thick and coarse hair responds exceptionally well to nanoplasty. The treatment makes the hair shaft more flexible and easier to manage, significantly cutting down blow-dry time and making the hair feel lighter and silkier to the touch.

Fine Hair

Unlike keratin treatments, which can sometimes weigh fine hair down and make it appear limp, nanoplasty is suitable for fine hair. Because it works by strengthening the hair rather than coating it, the result is finer hair that looks fuller, healthier, and smoother, without the heaviness.

Colour-Treated & Bleached Hair

Nanoplasty is safe for colour-treated hair and can actually help preserve your colour by sealing the cuticle. If you’re planning to colour and nanoplasty, we recommend doing the colour first and allowing 2 weeks before the nanoplasty treatment.

FAQs

Nanoplasty results typically last 6–9 months. The longevity depends on your hair type, how well you follow the aftercare routine, and how frequently you wash your hair. Using sulfate-free shampoo and avoiding frequent washing in the first few weeks after treatment will help maximise your results.

Yes, nanoplasty is considered safe for pregnant and breastfeeding women. Unlike traditional keratin treatments, which can contain formaldehyde or other harsh chemicals, nanoplasty is 100% formaldehyde-free and uses only amino acids and natural proteins. We always recommend consulting your midwife or OB before any salon treatment during pregnancy, but nanoplasty is widely regarded as the safest smoothing option available.

The main differences are: (1) Nanoplasty is completely formaldehyde-free; keratin often contains it. (2) Nanoplasty works by penetrating inside the hair shaft and rebuilding its protein structure; keratin coats the outside. (3) Nanoplasty retains your hair’s natural movement while reducing frizz; keratin can make hair very straight and stiff. (4) Nanoplasty is colour-safe and vegan-friendly; keratin can fade colour. (5) Nanoplasty is safe during pregnancy; keratin is not recommended.

No, nanoplasty is one of the few hair treatments that actively improves hair health. Rather than damaging the hair structure, it rebuilds it. The amino acids and proteins in the formula penetrate the

hair cortex and repair damaged bonds. Most clients find their hair is in significantly better condition after nanoplasty than before.

Yes, with some timing considerations. If you want to both colour and nanoplasty your hair, we recommend doing the colour first and waiting at least 2 weeks before the nanoplasty treatment. This allows the colour to fully set before we seal the cuticle. Nanoplasty is colour-safe and will actually help your colour last longer by sealing the cuticle

At The Cutting Room in Riverstone, nanoplasty starts from $350 for short hair (to your hairline), $450 for medium length hair, $500 for long hair, and $600 for extra long or thick hair. The treatment takes 2–3.5 hours depending on hair length and density. We recommend booking a free consultation first to confirm pricing for your specific hair.

You should wait at least 72 hours before washing your hair after nanoplasty. This is the critical bonding period for the treatment. After 72 hours, wash with a sulfate-free, salt-free shampoo to preserve the results.

Nanoplasty suits almost all hair types, curly, wavy, frizzy, thick, fine, and colour-treated hair all respond well to the treatment. The main consideration is your goal: if you want 100% frizz elimination and smoother, more manageable hair while retaining some natural movement, nanoplasty is ideal. If you want completely straight, board-flat hair with no movement, a stronger treatment may suit you better. We offer free consultations at The Cutting Room to help you find the right solution.

Nanoplasty significantly reduces curl and frizz, but the result depends on your natural hair type. For wavy and frizzy hair, it produces a very smooth, straight result. For tighter curls and coils, it relaxes the curl considerably while maintaining some natural movement. If you want completely straight, flat hair, we can discuss whether a stronger formulation or alternative treatment is better suited to your goals.

Yes, nanoplasty is safe and beneficial for bleached and highlighted hair. In fact, it’s particularly valuable for chemically processed hair because the amino acids help rebuild the protein bonds that bleach can break down. Your hair may feel noticeably stronger and healthier after the treatment.

After the initial 72-hour period, you can return to normal exercise. During the first 72 hours, avoid activities that cause heavy sweating as sweat (being water-based) can interfere with the bonding process. After the first week, normal exercise and sweating is completely fine.ach can break down. Your hair may feel noticeably stronger and healthier after the treatment.

A nanoplasty appointment at The Cutting Room takes between 2 and 3.5 hours depending on your hair length and density. Short hair is typically on the shorter end; long or very thick hair will take closer to 3.5 hours. We’ll give you a more accurate time estimate during your consultation.

We strongly recommend a consultation before your first nanoplasty appointment, especially if you have heavily bleached, damaged, or chemically treated hair. Consultations are complimentary at

The Cutting Room. During the consultation, we’ll assess your hair health, discuss your goals, confirm suitability, and give you an accurate quote.

Yes, nanoplasty is vegan-friendly and cruelty-free. The treatment uses amino acids and proteins derived from plant sources, with no animal-derived ingredients.

Maintenance & Aftercare

To maximise the longevity of your nanoplasty treatment and keep your hair looking its best, follow these aftercare tips:

  • Use Sulfate-Free Shampoo & Conditioner – Harsh detergents in regular shampoos can strip away the treatment, so opt for gentle, sulfate-free formulas to maintain smoothness and shine.
  • Hydrate Regularly – Deep-conditioning treatments once a week help nourish your hair and prevent dryness, ensuring long-lasting softness and vitality.
  • Minimise Heat Damage – While nanoplasty reduces frizz, excessive heat styling can still weaken your hair. Always use a heat protectant and keep hot tools at a moderate temperature.
  • Avoid Salt & Chlorine Exposure – Saltwater and chlorine can affect the treatment’s durability. Rinse your hair immediately after swimming and use protective sprays when needed.
  • Reduce Washing Frequency – Washing your hair too often can cause the treatment to fade faster. Aim for 2-3 washes per week using lukewarm water.
  • Schedule a Touch-Up – Depending on hair type and lifestyle, a refresh treatment every 5 – 7 months will help maintain your sleek, frizz-free results.

With proper care, your nanoplasty treatment will keep your hair effortlessly smooth, manageable, and radiant for months.

Nanoplasty Aftercare: How to Make Your Results Last

How you care for your hair in the days and weeks after your nanoplasty treatment makes a significant difference to how long your results last. Follow this guide to get the most from your treatment.

The First 72 Hours (Critical Period)

The first 3 days after your treatment are the most important. During this time, the nanoplasty formula is still bonding within the hair structure. To protect your results:

  • Do not wash your hair for at least 72 hours
  • Avoid getting your hair wet, no swimming, heavy sweating, or rain
  • Do not tie your hair up or put it in a ponytail (this can leave kinks)
  • Do not use hair clips, headbands, or anything that bends the hair
  • Avoid tucking hair behind your ears
  • Sleep on a silk or satin pillowcase to reduce friction

We know 72 hours can feel like a long time, but this window is what determines whether your results last 3 months or 9 months!

Ongoing Care: Products to Use

To maintain your results long-term, use sulfate-free, sodium-free shampoo and conditioner. Regular supermarket shampoos often contain sulfates (sodium lauryl sulfate or sodium laureth sulfate) which strip the nanoplasty treatment from the hair faster.

Look for products labelled:

  • Sulfate-free
  • Salt-free / sodium-free
  • Keratin-safe or treatment-safe

We stock a curated range of aftercare products at The Cutting Room and can recommend the best options for your hair type.

How Long Do Results Last?

Most clients enjoy results for 6–9 months. The variation depends on:

  • How well you follow the aftercare routine (especially the first 72 hours)
  • Your natural hair type (coarser hair may retain results longer)
  • How frequently you wash your hair (less washing = longer-lasting results)
  • Your water type (hard water can reduce longevity, a water filter for your shower head can help)

When the treatment begins to grow out, it does so gradually and naturally, your curl or wave pattern returns slowly from the roots, so there’s no harsh line of demarcation.

Products to Avoid

  • Shampoos containing sulfates (SLS or SLES)
  • Products with high salt content
  • Clarifying or detox shampoos (these are designed to strip treatments)
  • Anti-dandruff shampoos used frequently (these contain strong active ingredients)
  • Swimming in chlorinated pools without wearing a swim cap

Heat Styling After Nanoplasty

One of the biggest benefits of nanoplasty is that you’ll need far less heat styling, your hair will air-dry smoother and more manageable than before. When you do use heat tools:

  • Always use a heat protectant spray
  • Keep flat irons below 230°C
  • Blow dry using a medium heat setting

The less heat you use after nanoplasty, the longer your results will last.

Exercise & Sweating

After the initial 72-hour period, exercise is fine. If you’re doing intense workouts that cause heavy scalp sweating, try to limit the frequency of washing during the first 2 weeks, sweat can act similarly to water in softening the treatment bonds during this early period.
