New to The Cutting Room?

Welcome.

Changing hairdressers can feel like a big step. Whether you’re looking for a fresh start after a disappointing experience, want advice you can trust or simply feel it’s time for a change, we’re here to help.

Every great result starts with listening. Before we recommend a cut, colour or treatment, we’ll take the time to understand your hair, your lifestyle and what you’re hoping to achieve.

We’ll explain what’s realistically possible, answer your questions and create a personalised plan that’s designed specifically for you.

At The Cutting Room, there’s no pressure, no rushed decisions and no unrealistic promises. Just honest advice, beautiful results and healthy hair you’ll love long after you leave the salon.

Please note: All services are available to clients aged 16 and over only.

Why Women Choose to Change Hairdressers

  • They Don’t Feel Listened To

They’ve left appointments feeling their concerns weren’t heard or their stylist didn’t understand what they were trying to achieve.

  • Their Hair Has Been Damaged

Whether from over-processing, incorrect colouring or heat damage, they’re looking for someone who will put their hair’s health first.

  • Their Colour Never Feels Quite Right

They’re tired of brassiness, harsh regrowth, uneven colour or results that don’t match what they asked for.

  • They Want Healthier Hair

They’re ready to prioritise stronger, shinier, healthier hair instead of chasing quick fixes.

  • They Want Someone They Can Trust

They want honest advice, realistic expectations and recommendations based on what’s genuinely best for their hair.

  • They’re Ready for a Fresh Start

Sometimes it’s simply time for a change—a new stylist, a new look and a salon where they feel comfortable and confident.

What to Expect at Your First Appointment

Your first visit to The Cutting Room is about much more than your hair. It’s about getting to know you, understanding your goals, and making sure you feel completely confident before we begin.

Whether you’re looking for a subtle refresh, a complete colour transformation or help repairing damaged hair, we’ll take the time to understand where your hair is now, where you’d like it to be, and what’s realistically achievable.

There’s no pressure, no rushed decisions and no unrealistic promises. Instead, you’ll receive honest advice, realistic expectations, an upfront personalised quote, and a tailored plan that’s designed specifically for your hair.

Our goal is simple: to help you achieve beautiful, healthy hair you’ll love long after you leave the salon.

Your First Appointment in 6 Simple Steps

01

Let’s Get to Know You

We’ll talk about your hair, your lifestyle, what you love, what frustrates you and what you’re hoping to achieve.

02

We’ll Assess Your Hair

We’ll assess your hair’s condition, discuss its history and explain what’s realistically achievable while keeping your hair healthy.

03

Honest Advice & Your Personalised Plan

We’ll recommend the services that are genuinely right for your hair—even if that means suggesting a different approach than you originally had in mind.

04

Your Personalised Quote

Before we begin, we’ll explain exactly what’s involved, answer your questions and provide an upfront quote, so there are no surprises.

05

Time to Relax

Once you’re happy with the plan, it’s time to sit back and enjoy your appointment while our experienced team brings your vision to life.

06

Leave Feeling Confident

Before you leave, we’ll provide personalised home care advice and recommend when to return, helping you maintain beautiful, healthy hair long after your appointment.

Healthy Hair Before Quick Fixes

Beautiful hair starts with healthy hair.

While we all love dramatic transformations, we’ll never compromise the long-term health of your hair to achieve a quick result. Every recommendation we make is based on what’s genuinely best for your hair—not simply what’s possible in a single appointment.

Sometimes that means recommending a treatment before colouring. Sometimes it means taking a gradual approach to lightening or colour correction. And sometimes it means telling you that your hair isn’t quite ready yet.

We’ll always explain why.  Our goal is to help you achieve beautiful, healthy hair that you can enjoy long after you leave the salon—not just on the day of your appointment.

Why Clients Trust Our Advice

Healthy Hair Always Comes First

Every recommendation we make is based on protecting the long-term health of your hair.

Honest, Realistic Advice

We’ll explain what’s achievable today and if your dream result needs more than one appointment, we’ll tell you why.

Long-Term Results, Not Quick Fixes

Healthy hair holds colour better, feels softer, shines more and is easier to manage between appointments.

We’ll Always Explain Why

If we recommend a different approach, we’ll explain our reasoning so you can make an informed decision.

Your Long-Term Hair Plan

Your appointment doesn’t end when you leave the salon.

We’ll help you understand how to care for your hair at home, recommend the products best suited to your hair type, and let you know when we recommend your next visit to keep your hair looking and feeling its best.

Whether you’re maintaining a beautiful blonde, embracing your natural greys, repairing damaged hair or simply keeping your haircut looking fresh, we’ll create a maintenance plan that’s realistic for your lifestyle and budget.

Our goal isn’t to have you back in the salon more often than necessary. It’s to help you enjoy healthy, beautiful hair every day between appointments.

What Happens After Your Appointment?

Personalised Home Care

We’ll recommend the products that are right for your hair, explain how to use them correctly and help you get the best results at home.

Maintenance Plan

We’ll recommend when to return based on your hair goals, lifestyle and budget—not simply to book another appointment.

Ongoing Support

If you have questions after your appointment, we’re always happy to help. Your hair journey doesn’t end when you leave the salon.

Healthy Hair for the Long Term

Every recommendation we make is designed to keep your hair looking beautiful, feeling healthy and becoming easier to manage over time.

Testimonials

I was recommended to go to The Cutting Room after having a few disappointing results from other salons. I was quite nervous about going to a new salon, but Amie actually listened to what I wanted and what I wanted to achieve. It truly was refreshing for a hairdresser to listen to what you wanted rather than doing what they wanted to do. The result was amazing and I’ve already rebooked my next appointments.

After a bad colour elsewhere, Cass supported me greatly and kindly squeezed me in for a colour correction. Alice took the time to explain everything clearly and made sure I was comfortable with the quote and the plan before starting. She completely fixed my colour and I left feeling so relieved and happy. I’ve already booked my follow-up and truly trust them with my hair now.

FAQs

Choosing a new hairdresser is about more than finding someone who can cut or colour your hair. Look for a salon that takes the time to understand your goals, explains what’s realistically achievable and prioritises the long-term health of your hair. At The Cutting Room, every new client begins with a personalised consultation, so you can feel confident before any work begins.

Your first appointment starts with a personalised consultation. We’ll discuss your hair history, your lifestyle and what you’d like to achieve, assess your hair’s condition, explain your options and provide an upfront quote before we begin. Our goal is to create a tailored plan that’s right for your hair and delivers beautiful, long-lasting results.

If you’re visiting us for the first time, we recommend a consultation before any major colour service. This allows us to assess your hair, discuss your goals and recommend the safest, most effective approach. It also gives you the opportunity to ask questions and understand what’s realistically achievable before your appointment.

That’s completely normal. Many of our clients come to us looking for professional guidance rather than a specific style. We’ll take the time to understand your lifestyle, hair type, maintenance preferences and personal style before recommending options that will complement both you and your hair.

In many cases, yes. During your consultation, we’ll assess your hair’s current condition and explain what’s possible. Sometimes a colour correction or repair can be completed in one visit, while more complex transformations may require a staged approach to protect the long-term health of your hair. We’ll always explain our recommendations honestly before we begin.

The answer depends on your haircut, colour, hair type and personal goals. Before you leave, we’ll recommend a maintenance schedule that’s tailored to your lifestyle and budget. Our aim isn’t to have you back in the salon more often than necessary—it’s to help you keep your hair looking healthy and beautiful between appointments.
