They can be a woman’s worst enemy...
But do they have to be?
❓ ❓ ❓ ❓ ❓ ❓ ❓ ❓ ❓ ❓ ❓ ❓
Why do we fear them so passionately?
Why are they deemed so evil and why must we fight to eliminate them completely..?
😈 🧨 ⚔️
I mean the stressssss!!!!!
You try to cover them but they’re going to come back. And they’ll bring their pals!
You’re pushing shit uphill!
Sorry but it’s true. 🤷🏼♀️
It’s a battle you’re never going to win!
If you’ve read this far, sometime soon you’re going to get to a point in that war when you either need to come in every 3 weeks to get sufficient, continual coverage OR you can hear us out.
Like it or not!
You need to embrace these little bastards because they are not going away.
And, you trying to cover them is you, living in a world of fantasy and total denial.
That time may be not too far off for you... or you may be there now.
What’s the answer❓❓❓
Well. You should EMBRACE THEM!
Work with them.
Learn to co exist side by side.
Grey hair CAN be worked with.
We like to spend the time blending it in by doing teeny, tiny, micro foils which work by bridging the gap between the grey and your original natural hair.
After all... your hair IS trying to go lighter. Why not take the control back and take it there by choice.
Beat it! 👊🏼
The “before” regrowth in this picture is 12 weeks old.
You might call it an ISO regrowth.
Lucky we had started this process before isolation began as the pain was so much less during lockdown for this client than A LOT of you out there!
A lot of you have recently come walking back in, hanging that massive regrowth in shame shouting “THANK god I’ve been working from home!!!”
Putting a tint, on the scalp, to the roots to cover the grey means that as the new growth comes through, there is a solid line from the artificial colour, which is unnatural.
It alerts everyone that you are hiding grey hair, which is actually worse than those pain in the arse greys in the first place.
The process for the change from a solid tint to foils, can take anything from 2 visits to 6 visits.
But in the long run, the benefits far outweigh the time frame.
For one, you are no longer shoving shit uphill!
Your regrowth will blend better meaning that it’s fewer visits to the salon (saving money) and more time looking like a hottie!
If the world decides to end again due to covid, you only have to stress about your nails looking like shit and having hairy legs! 💅🏻
Your hair will be on point! 👌🏼
Now be prepared. We may choose to start this conversation before you are ready to and that’s ok.
We are just planting a seed for future conversations.
Don’t stab us!
Because at some point, we will push it because we don’t believe in covering greys forever.
So please trust our very well meaning and extremely experienced opinion.
We only want you looking your best. ✌🏼
I have NEVER had my hair feeling this good. I am loving myself sick! I have always felt my hair was dry and in bad condition. KUPA makes my hair feel 100% perfect INSTANTLY! I rave to my friends about it and they are all converted. I actually give it to friends as gifts and I am now the friend everyone loves! Who doesn't want hair that is tangle free, moisturised, healthy looking and shiny. My hair is no longer breaking and split ends are a thing of the past.
Clients mainly come in asking for foils or balayage and they always have a sexy goal picture in their hand.
Quite often, what you think you want or need is not the answer.
Firstly, the first thing we like to explain is that Foils and balayage are both techniques, not results. Balayage means shading or blending and more often in the hair industry, this can mean what we call "free hand painting."
Foiling is a technique that we use by taking sections in the hair and weaving pieces out (or not) and applying colour and then wrapping in foil. But, confusingly enough, the same can be done with applications of balayage too.
This is why, at The Cutting Room, we go off your goal pictures that you show us, more than the words you use. New clients can be "triggered" by certain names of techniques as they have suffered a terrible experience at the hands of an inexperienced hairdresser.
This is when consultations are important.
You may have booked in for a full head of foils, thinking this is what you want and need but quite often, once we get into the nitty gritty of you, your hair habits, lifestyle and goals, what you need may be something altogether different.
Or it could be a mix of both.
The best idea is don't get too caught up in the names of things and allow your stylist to ask the questions that are necessary to work out what you need.
We will always book packages based on these names as people just like you find it easier to understand when booking online or over the phone.
It's ok. We will get you to your goals, regardless of how we get there.
We get between 10 and 15 people a week asking for quotes to go grey/silver or pastel colours like lavender.
We do a lot of this kind of thing and have a great reputation doing it well.
I do however spend a lot of time answering questions, quoting and replying to messages so I just thought a post like this may help you if you are thinking about having this service done.
Firstly, going these types of colours is not cheap and despite what you may think, the length of your hair has little to no impact on the price. It's the time that it takes.
* Also please note, these types of colours can not be done on hair that is in poor condition.
The first step is to get you as close to white as possible.
We use #olaplex and #cureplex so the condition of your hair is nurtured but this process is the longest part.
Depending on how dark your hair is, how much colour build up you have and how good or bad the condition of your hair is, you may need to do this part in up to 3 visits.
This process (including Olaplex)
is around $200 per application and can take 1 - 2 hours per application.
Remember you may need 3 of these.
Once your hair is as pale as possible, we rinse then dry off the hair. Then we need to tone/gloss you to eliminate any yellow in the hair.
This step of the process can cost between $40 and $110 depending on the amount of colour required and the amount of processing time.
Once this step is complete, we need to rinse and totally dry off your hair.
The next step is adding the pastel purple/silver/grey.
We have around 5 different brands to achieve these colours and the correct one for you will be selected during your visit.
This step will take about an hour including mixing, application and processing and will cost between $42 and $100 depending on the colour brand and how much we need.
Then we need to apply the step 2 of your Olaplex/Cureplex treatment which can take another 30 minutes.
Add a cut and a blowdry (we do not do these types of services WITHOUT a cut and blowdry as we need to thoroughly check the condition and the colour results), and that's another 45 minutes.
So there you have it!
In total, you will be looking at around 4 - 8 hours work, rounding off at about $125 per hour including Olaplex take home hair rebuilder, which includes 6 - 12 treatments.
Also, the maintenance needs to be discussed. Just because you've now had this done, does not mean it stays looking like this!
And to keep it looking amazing, you have to keep on top of it.
These pastels/silvers fade and fast.
I shampoo everyday (I wear a lot of product in my hair and I'm very oily) with professional products and do all the right treatments etc and I need my pastel purple or silver topped up every 3 weeks.
This will cost between $42 and $100 depending on how much product is used.
Then, if you have had an on scalp bleach, you will need your regrowth done.
So we'll need to relighted it, $60 - $80, tone/gloss it to remove yellow, $42 - $60, then add the purple/silver $42 - $100.
Add a trim and a blow dry and you are looking at between $200 and $300.
We do between 2 and 5 of these per week and the results are SPECTACULAR!
I guess I just really wanted to explain the steps, the pricing and most importantly, the maintenance.
I have been wearing these colours myself for nearly 18 months and have been completing services like this in a professional salon environment for 23 years.
I am a colour technician as is Lee.
We UNDERSTAND hair and we KNOW colour.
We wanted you to understand the level of work and commitment that goes into these colours. It is not a one step process and it is not cheap.
However, some people can spend $400 - $800 on a weekend away or even a night out!
So spending this type of money on a service that will make you feel fashionable, sexy and the envy of your friends for weeks, has far more value, than spending that kind of money on a night out or a weekend away.
You get much more bang for your buck. 😉
We thought we'd tell you exactly what else we do at The Cutting Room, and I don't mean extra services.
It's the behind the scenes stuff that we think is pretty cool.
You see, it started nearly 2 years ago when we were sourcing a new colour range to use in our salons.
Every colour range we tried was a real disappointment. Either it just wasn't good or there was no creative freedom ie that it was 1 step up from a box colour!!! NO THANKS!
We love mixing cocktails for our clients and creating colours that are tailored for you.
There just wasn't anything so we started creating!
Wind forward 18 months and we are now using a range of hair colours that we have created with some of the best people in the world! Isn't that crazy????
Even better, so are 4 other salons around Australia!
We have also started developing a Home Care line.
It started with a treatment (the "green" one) which people raved about so much that we found ourselves selling and posting them all over the country to clients friends and family!
Then we created our Argan line which is a delicious Gluten Free, Sulfate Free shampoo, conditioner, hair masque and oil that has blown our clients away! So much so that we get testimonials weekly, without encouragement!
Now we have created something so spectacular, that there is nothing like it in the world! It's called Coloured Bleach.
For those that love a flash of pink or purple in the hair, you know how many steps there are involved in the process and that those lovely vibrant colours fade so quickly!
Coloured Bleach is a 1 step process and it's basically permanent!
Well, the hair industry are going crazy for it!
We can't keep enough of it in supply!
We started with 30 tubs. SOLD OUT!
Then 170 tubs! SOLD OUT!
Then 300 tubs! SOLD OUT!
And I'm talking in days!
So now we have 5000 tubs on their way and we are going to be at Hair EXPO 2014 in Sydney!
It is the biggest thing for the hairdressing industry in Australia!
We will be having an official launch there and it will be mental!!!!
It's crazy how far we've come and the waves we are creating.
And to think..... It all started in a little salon called The Cutting Room @ Riverstone....
.... And we know how to celebrate!
So on the 14th of August, we have been in Riverstone 7 years. We've seen team members come and go. We've met amazing people. We've laughed so much and we have fallen in love with Riverstone.
It's an amazing little town. It's people are full of such characters. We love Riverstone so much and so we are celebrating with a massive sale that put us on the map!
it's 1/2 price colour sale time.
Riverstone is a town unlike any other. It has an extremely passionate community with quite a few vocal individuals.
Everyone here "wants the best" for Rivo but it's the "what's best" that varies from person to person.
Let me tell you... We know what's best and what's best is, even without an overpass or a new shopping centre, everyone needs to look and feel fabulous and hair is where it starts.
Get an appointment! Get amazing hair!
And enjoy our Birthday!
Let me guess. When you hear the word dust you think of this?
Or the nasty stuff under your cupboards.
Well we are obsessed with putting dust in our hair!
Why? It creates super light texture and hold but is dry, unlike a wax or gel.
Think of that first day you shampoo and your hair is flippy, floppy AWFUL. You feel flat and you look flat.
We have found that THE best one is Osis Dust It.
How do you use it?
After shampooing, conditioning and blast drying to bone dry, sprinkle as much dust it in your hair as you need to create a dirty, lived in, rock and roll do.
Texture. Movement. Awesome.
You DO need to do 2 shampoos to get it out but it's totally worth it.
Think Beachy waves.
Rock and Roll messiness.
Scrunchy crunchy hair needs to stay in the 80's. Move with us into 2013.
You can buy this online for 40% off now.
The CFDA Fashion Awards for 2013 and the look heading our way for spring/summer is baggy!
Call it what you like....
But on Victoria Beckham, you can nearly guarantee that this "slouchy" look is probably a size 6!
Maybe even a size 4.... (Do they even make them?)
It's a great look to wear to dinner at a fancy restaurant if you want to stuff your face with bloating carbohydrates! However, if you are already a "normal" size 14 - 16 like me, the chances of us looking refined and polished is slim, like our pal Vic over there...
I don't know about you but when I put anything baggy on, I feel a little bit like one of these..
Now the weather is getting chillier and we head from outside to indoor heating, the toll on your skin and hair can be great.
Hats are great in winter.
Beanies are lovely and warm and so are the knitted, floppy, oversized ones from last winter.
We have a new favourite this winter.
Don't forget to kiss and cuddle your hair in winter using a nice thick treatment. Most you can use in the shower instead of a conditioner up to 3 times a week and leave on while you wash and shave. The results are instant and lovely.
Just don't use a reconstructive treatment containing protein as too much protein can contribute to the destruction of your luscious locks.
So grab a sexy hat, reflecting the 40's, match it with a low bun and some long flat boots and you are accessorised in style.
Brave the cold and look fabulous!
So we were Finalists in the Blacktown City Small business Awards and i'm pleased to say that we were in 3 Awesome catagories.
- The Cutting Room was a Finalist in Most Outstanding Salon
- I (Cassandra) was a finalist for Business Person Of the Year
- Ellie was a finalist for Outstanding Youth of the Year. And....
As a Team, we couldn't be prouder!
