Real Results. Honest Promises.

A salon built on trust, honest advice and beautiful, healthy hair.

Back in 2006, it was just me – Cass – a tiny salon with three chairs, two basins, a lot of determination and an even bigger dream.

I’d spent time working overseas, bringing home new ideas, techniques and a passion for continual learning. But more than anything, I wanted to create a salon where women felt genuinely listened to. A place where they could trust the advice they were given, feel comfortable asking questions, and know their hair’s health would always come first.

As more women discovered us and shared their experience with friends and family, we outgrew our little salon and moved into the space we now call home. Twenty years later, that same philosophy still guides everything we do.

While the salon has grown, our approach hasn’t changed. We believe in honest consultations, realistic expectations and helping every client achieve beautiful, healthy hair that suits their lifestyle—not just what looks good on the day.

For us, it’s never just been about hair. It’s about helping every woman leave feeling confident, cared for and like the very best version of herself.

Inclusivity has always been at the heart of what we do. We welcome women from every path of life, and I take a lot of pride in that.

At the same time, I’ve always looked for ways to give back to this community that’s given me so much.

Whether it’s donating to local groups, sponsoring sports teams, or helping out women’s shelters, I’m grateful to play even a small part in making a difference.

The Cutting Room is so much more than a salon to me—it’s my happy place. It’s where I get to meet incredible people and share laughs, stories, and connections.

Every single one of you has made this dream possible, and I can’t thank you enough for being part of this crazy, wonderful journey with me. Here’s to whatever comes next—more styles, more good vibes, and so many more memories together.

The Salon Mission Statement

“Our mission is to help every woman achieve beautiful, healthy hair through honest advice, expert care and realistic expectations. We believe great hair starts with trust, and we’re committed to creating a welcoming space where every client feels listened to, cared for and confident in the advice they receive.”

What We Believe

Honest Advice

We believe trust is earned through honesty. We’ll always tell you what’s realistically achievable, recommend what’s genuinely best for your hair, and never suggest products or services you don’t need.

Healthy Hair First

Beautiful hair starts with healthy hair. Every recommendation we make is based on protecting the long-term health and integrity of your hair, not chasing short-term results.

Expertise Without Ego

Learning never stops. Our team continually invests in education and advanced training so you can feel confident you’re receiving the very best advice, techniques and care in a welcoming, down-to-earth environment.

Every Client Matters

No two clients are the same. We take the time to listen, understand your lifestyle and create a personalised plan that’s right for you, because feeling heard is just as important as loving your hair.

Meet the Team

Cass

Grand Master Stylist

With over 30 years’ experience and nearly 20 years leading The Cutting Room, Cass is the heart of the salon and the person who has shaped the philosophy every stylist works by today.

Her career began with an apprenticeship in Sydney before taking her to London, where she worked as a Colour Technician, became an educator and further honed her skills at the prestigious Vidal Sassoon Academy. Even after decades in the industry, Cass believes learning never stops. Five years ago she completed another two years of advanced training, including a return to London, to earn the title of International Grand Master Stylist – a qualification held by only a handful of stylists in Australia.

Cass is also a qualified Trichologist and member of the International Association of Trichologists, giving her a deep understanding of both hair and scalp health.

Throughout her career she’s helped clients through everything from chemical damage and colour corrections to resistant grey, fine and thinning hair, hormonal hair changes and long-term colour planning.

But if you ask Cass what she’s most proud of, it isn’t the qualifications or the awards.  It’s the trust her clients place in her.

“The biggest thing I’ve learned over the years is that listening isn’t just a question you ask at the beginning of an appointment. It’s an ongoing conversation. Most clients don’t always know exactly what they need—they just know how they want to feel. My job is to understand their lifestyle, explain what’s realistically achievable and create a plan that’s right for them. Sometimes the most important thing a hairdresser can do is say no.”

That philosophy has become the foundation of The Cutting Room. Every stylist has been trained using the same approach: listen first, give honest advice, set realistic expectations and always put the health of the client’s hair first.

Although Cass’s books are now closed to new clients, she continues to mentor and train the team, working closely with Salon Educator Amie to ensure every client receives the same level of care, expertise and attention that has defined The Cutting Room for the past 20 years.

Penny

Business Development

Penny joined The Cutting Room in 2009 and has played a pivotal role in transforming the salon into one of the most respected and awarded salons in the Blacktown City region.

While Cass leads the team from a technical and education perspective, Penny is the person constantly looking ahead. With a background in business development across a range of industries, she brings a fresh perspective to the salon, always asking how the client experience can be improved, what the team can learn next, and where The Cutting Room should be heading in the future.

Much of what clients love about the salon today has been shaped by Penny’s vision. From creating a warm, welcoming environment where everyone feels comfortable, to introducing new services, improving systems and ensuring every client receives a consistently high standard of care, she’s always focused on the bigger picture.

Penny is passionate about building a salon that women genuinely enjoy visiting. She believes a great salon experience is about much more than beautiful hair. It’s about feeling listened to, cared for and confident that you’re receiving honest advice from people who genuinely have your best interests at heart.

She also believes education never stops. Whether it’s investing in advanced training for the team, researching the latest techniques and technology, or finding new ways to improve the client experience, Penny is always looking for opportunities to help The Cutting Room continue to grow while staying true to its values.

Although you may not always see Penny on the salon floor, you’ll see her influence throughout the salon. From the welcoming atmosphere and thoughtful little touches to the long-term direction of the business, much of what makes The Cutting Room different has been shaped by her behind the scenes.

Outside the salon, you’ll usually find Penny tending to her garden, chatting with clients over a coffee, or planning the salon’s next big idea. She’s just as happy talking vegetables and indoor plants as she is discussing business strategy, and she’s always looking for ways to make The Cutting Room an even better place for both clients and the team.

Amie

Salon Educator and Senior Stylist

With over 15 years of experience, Amie is one of The Cutting Room’s most experienced stylists and the salon’s Educator. Personally chosen by Cass to help train and mentor the team, she plays an important role in maintaining the high standards and philosophy the salon is known for.

Amie specialises in lived-in blondes, AirTouch colouring and grey blending, creating soft, natural-looking colour that grows out beautifully. She carefully plans each service around her client’s lifestyle, always aiming for healthy, low-maintenance hair rather than simply achieving a result for the day they leave the salon.

Known for her honest advice and attention to detail, Amie takes the time to listen before recommending a plan that’s right for each client. Whether it’s a subtle refresh or a complete transformation, her goal is always the same: beautiful, healthy hair that suits the individual.

Outside the salon, you’ll usually find Amie exploring the great outdoors, heading off on camping adventures and enjoying a night under the stars.

Delaney

Senior Stylist

With 10 years of experience, Delaney has built a reputation for creating beautiful blondes, from cool ash tones through to warm honey and caramel. Rather than simply following trends, she carefully considers each client’s skin tone, natural colour and lifestyle to create a result that feels personalised and grows out beautifully.

She has a particular passion for AirTouch colouring and grey blending, using advanced techniques to achieve soft, seamless colour with no harsh regrowth lines. Clients love that her colour is designed to look just as beautiful weeks after their appointment as it does on the day they leave the salon.

Delaney is known for her calm, friendly nature and thorough consultations. She takes the time to understand what her clients are hoping to achieve before creating a personalised plan, ensuring they feel comfortable, confident and well looked after throughout their appointment.

When she’s not in the salon, Delaney is a self-confessed Swiftie who still insists The Eras Tour was the best night out she’s ever had. Most evenings, you’ll find her relaxing at home with Taylor Swift playing in the background and her much-loved ragdoll cat, Albus, never too far away.

Alice

Master Colourist & Stylist

With eight years of experience, Alice is a Master Stylist specialising in cutting, colour and balayage. Achieving Master Stylist status required completing more than 20 advanced courses, along with both practical and written assessments, reflecting her commitment to continually building her skills and delivering exceptional results for every client.

Alice has developed a particular expertise in working with Indian and Asian hair, understanding the unique characteristics and techniques needed to achieve beautiful, healthy results. She also specialises in balayage, AirTouch colouring and grey blending, taking the time to create personalised colour that complements each client’s natural features, lifestyle and maintenance preferences.

Known for her thorough consultations and honest advice, Alice believes every appointment starts with listening. She’ll take the time to understand your hair goals, explain what’s realistically achievable and provide guidance on how to maintain your hair at home, ensuring your style looks just as good between appointments as it does when you leave the salon.

Outside the salon, Alice loves discovering new restaurants and is always on the lookout for her next favourite place to eat. She also has a fun side that surprises many of her clients—she’s a genuine techno fan and rarely misses a good rave.

Tahlia

Emerging Stylist

Tahlia has a genuine passion for cutting and loves creating styles that suit the way her clients wear and manage their hair every day. She takes the time to understand each person’s lifestyle, styling routine and long-term goals before recommending a cut, making sure it looks just as good at home as it does when they leave the salon.

Alongside her cutting skills, Tahlia continues to build her expertise across all areas of hairdressing and is a certified Nanoplasty specialist. She enjoys helping clients achieve smoother, healthier, more manageable hair and takes pride in delivering results that are tailored to each individual’s hair type and needs.

Clients appreciate Tahlia’s calm nature, attention to detail and willingness to listen. Whether you’re looking for a subtle change or a completely new look, she’ll make sure you feel comfortable, informed and confident throughout your appointment.

When she’s not in the salon, Tahlia loves getting outdoors and is usually the one convincing her friends to head off on an early morning hike. Shelly Beach is her favourite place to unwind and recharge.

Amelia

Emerging Stylist

Hairdressing is in Amelia’s blood, with her grandmother also working as a hairdresser. Growing up around the industry taught her that great hair is about more than technical skill – it’s about making people feel comfortable, confident and genuinely cared for.

Amelia has a talent for creating beautiful blow dries with lasting volume and bounce, and she enjoys creating soft, lived-in colour that grows out naturally between appointments. She’s also a certified Nanoplasty specialist, helping clients achieve smoother, healthier, more manageable hair while tailoring every treatment to their individual hair type and goals.

Known for her warm and friendly nature, Amelia takes the time to listen to every client and loves helping them leave the salon feeling like the best version of themselves. Whether it’s a special occasion style, a colour refresh or a smoothing treatment, she approaches every appointment with care and attention to detail.

When she’s not in the salon, Amelia loves exploring the outdoors and heading off on four-wheel driving adventures, usually somewhere well away from the crowds and phone reception.

Taylor

Emerging Stylist

Taylor has a real passion for creating beautiful blonde hair and loves helping clients find the colour that best suits their skin tone, lifestyle and maintenance preferences. She believes every appointment starts with a great consultation, taking the time to understand what each client is hoping to achieve before recommending the best approach.

She’s also certified in Weft Extensions, a highly specialised technique that requires precision and attention to detail to achieve a seamless, natural-looking result while protecting the health of the client’s own hair. That same care and attention carries through to everything Taylor does, from cutting and colouring to styling and finishing.

Clients appreciate Taylor’s friendly, caring nature and the time she takes to ensure they feel comfortable and confident throughout their appointment. Whether you’re looking for a colour refresh, extensions or a completely new look, she’ll work with you to create a result that’s both beautiful and practical.

When she’s not in the salon, Taylor is happiest out on the water. A licensed boat driver, she loves spending weekends waterskiing and enjoying time with family and friends.
